Sheldon Emerson Obituary

Sheldon L Emerson, 62, of rural Eleva, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack at home on January 30, 2024.

Sheldon was born on July 26, 1961 to Richard “Dick” and Jane (Thalacker) Emerson. He was a 1979 graduate of Eleva-Strum Central. After graduation, he worked for a number of years at Arcadia Fryers. He retired in August 2023 after working 32 at SPF in Mondovi.

Volunteering to help out wherever he could was his passion. Sheldon was very active in the E-S Snowtrekker Snowmobile Club as well as the Eleva Broiler Fest. He spent many hours helping get the Broiler Fest grounds ready to go each year.

His favorite past time was attending his nieces and nephews sporting events. Once they grew up he moved on to cheering for his great nieces and nephews. He very rarely if ever missed a game.  He also enjoyed traveling to the race track with Art and Becky rooting for his favorite driver.

Sheldon will be deeply missed not only by his family but everyone who knew him. He is  survived by his mother Jane Emerson of Eleva, two brothers Steve (Fay) Emerson of Eleva and Wayne (Angie) Emerson of Strum and two sisters Pamela  Shafer of Eleva and  Paula (Steven) Gullicksrud  of Strum; seven nieces and nephews, Josh (Angie) Gullicksrud of Strum, Christopher (Katie) Emerson of MN, Josh (Darla) Burce of Eleva, Amanda (Ryan) Van Sickle of Strum, Cory (Sadie) Gullicksrud of Strum, Anthony Sharer and Aleasha (Brandon) Brown of Eleva; Six great nieces and nephews, Macy Gullicksrud, Landon and Hazel Emerson, Gretta and Zachary Burce and Eclipse Brown.

He is preceded in death by his father, Richard “Dick” Emerson, grandparents Mina and Jens Emerson, Henry Tollefson, Paul and Hattie Thalacker; nephew Michael Emerson; brother-in-law Mike Shafer, many aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, February 19th, 2024 at Eleva Lutheran Church with Pastor Karen Ressel officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Burial will follow in the Eleva Cemetery.
