Phyllis Marie (Meistad) Thompson

Phyllis Marie Thompson, 73, of Gilmanton, WI died Sunday, August 13, 2023 at her home. She was born July 4, 1950 in Mondovi, WI; daughter of Oscar and Leota (Cassidy) Meistad. She attended school in Gilmanton.

Following school, Phyllis married Larry Thompson. To this union they were blessed with 5 children, Julie, Dennis, Cory, Michelle and Troy. Larry died in 1977.

Phyllis worked various jobs in the area. She owned Archie’s Bar and was owner of the Panther Café, both in Gilmanton.

She spent over twenty years with her special companion, Kevin Rud. They enjoyed going on camping trips and attending car shows with Phyllis’s 1957 Chevy Bel-Aire. Kevin died in 2015.

Phyllis enjoyed going to thrift sales, auctions, and going on road trips. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Julie, Dennis, Michelle (Darrel),Troy (Joey); many grandchildren and great-grand children; sisters, Sharon Schuh, Mary Jane Evanson; and many nieces and nephews; special friend, Judy Klopp.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Leota (Cassidy) Meistad; husband, Larry Thompson; infant son, Cory Thompson; special companion, Kevin Rud; siblings, Margaret, Ronny, Leonard, Gary, Gordy and Gail.

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, September 23, 2023 from 2:00- 6:00 pm at the Gilmanton American Legion Hall in Gilmanton, WI.
