Kenneth "Buzz" Edward Harmon

Kenneth “Buzz” Edward Harmon, 72, of Mondovi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 27, 2023, surrounded by his loving family and friends at his home in Birchwood, WI. He was born January 1, 1951, in Menomonie, WI; the son of Kenneth and Lila (Maxfield) Harmon. He graduated from Durand High School in 1969.

On November 3, 1973, he married Mary Sue Weiss at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand, WI.He was a devoted husband and loving father to their children, Brian and Amy. They raised their family in the Durand and Mondovi area. Mary Sue passed away on September 22, 2013.

Through the years, Buzz enjoyed playing softball, taking trips to Canada fishing, snowmobiling, and four-wheeling. His love for motorsports led him to snowmobile racing, where he spent over 15 years traveling near and far, building relationships, making friends, and supporting his son Brian in racing.

Buzz and Mary Sue called home in Mondovi, WI, where they owned and operated several successful businesses in the area. The latest was Buzz’s Bar & Grill in Mondovi, WI; where the family will carry on his legacy.

Being a grandpa to Camden and Bryce came naturally to Buzz. He loved having the kids around to show them how to fish, cook, and, most importantly, love. Buzz lived a full life demonstrating his values, hard work, humbleness, and dedication to his family on a daily basis.  

Buzz was fortunate to find love and happiness a second time with Mary Manka of Birchwood, WI. Buzz and Mary enjoyed doing the things he loved and living life to the fullest. The family would like to thank Mary for her love and care.

His children survive him; Amy (Mike) Moseler of Eau Claire, WI; Brian (Tessa) Harmon of Mondovi, WI; grandchildren, Camden and Bryce Moseler; sisters, Lorraine Harmon, Brenda Smith, and Roxanne (Robert) Weishapple; special friend, Mary Manka; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

 He is preceded in death by his wife of 40 years,Mary Sue Harmon; parents, Kenneth and Lila (Maxfield) Harmon; niece, Crystal Beaton; nephew, Steve Beaton; father-in-law, Norman “Corky” Weiss; brothers-in-law, Mike Weiss and Dennis “Merv” Smith.

A private family burial will be held at St. Henry’s Cemetery in Eau Galle, WI.

A Celebration of Buzz’s life will be held on Thursday, August 10th, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Buzz’s Bar and Grill, 152 S. Eau Claire Street in Mondovi, WI, and Wednesday, August 16th, 2023, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Mary’s Bluegill Bar and Grill, 109 S. Main Street in Birchwood, WI.
