Kathy Louise Fahnel

Kathy Louise Fahnel passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at home after a short hospital stay, with her partner Lynn at her side.

She was born April 22, 1959 to Arne August and Goldene (McQuiston) Fahnel in Mondovi, WI, and was raised in rural Nelson and Alma. Kathy was the youngest of their seven children.  Kathy loved cats, Guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, and chickens. When she was a teenager she had a pet Bantam hen and through much of her life she had cats, fish and a Guinea pig.

Kathy met her long term partner, Lynn Parker at Huntsinger Farms in 1991 where they both worked. After a first date to see Home Alone when it premiered in theatres, they had been together ever since.  Kathy was devoted to him and will be missed greatly.

She loved to spend time with her sister Debbie, and they’d often go to yard sales or thrift shops together. Kathy was a second mother to Debbie’s daughter Rachel, and when Debbie passed away in 2008, Kathy and Rachel became even closer. Kathy was adored by Rachel’s children, who called her “Surn”, as Rachel did when she was small.

Kathy is survived by her partner, Lynn Parker of Mondovi; 2 brothers, Gary (Eileen) and Brian of Durand; nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and cousins.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Arne and Goldene; sisters Ardelle Joanne and Debra Jeanne, brothers Ronald William and Allen Lee, grandparents Jacob and Josephine (Scott) McQuiston and William F and Lydia A (Young) Fahnel, and her baby girl, Amanda Lee.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.
