Esther Simonson Obituary

Esther J. Steinke Simonson, 88, of Mondovi, passed away Sunday, September 28, 2008 at American Lutheran Home in Mondovi with her children at her side.\nShe was born on April 19, 1920 in Gilmanton, WI to Bernard and Emily (Rud) Steinke. In 1935 she married Norman Simonson in rural Mondovi. She was a cook at the Skyline Lodge, an elderly care center, in Choteau, MT. Esther returned to Mondovi in 2005.\nEsther read from the Bible to all of her children as they were growing up. She loved music and especially enjoyed playing the accordion and singing at church and at the nursing home. Esther was loved by everyone.\nShe is survived by nine children, Elaine Bursaw of Ft. Benton, MT, Orvin (Enid) Simonson of Lemmon Valley, NV, Beverly (John) Klaus of Lemmon Valley, MT, Ellen (Ray) Riggs of Crystal River, FL, Norma Jean (John) McLaughlin of Ulm, MT, Richard Simonson of Dutton, MT, Sharon (Bud) Martinson of Sun River, MT, Donald (Debbie) Simonson of Eau Claire, WI and Gary (Chris) Simonson of Choteau, MT.; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; three sisters, Eileen (Pete) Schultz of Alma, WI; Margaret Champion of Eau Claire, WI and Barbara Wulff of Neilsville, WI; nieces, nephews and other relatives.\nEsther was preceded in death by her husband, Norman; one son, Rudy; one daughter, Emily; her parents; and one brother, Rudolph "Bud" Steinke.\nPrivate graveside services will be held at Drammen Lutheran Cemetery.
