Cecelia Shafer, 84, of Altoona, WI passed away on November 17, 2023 after an unexpected illness. She was born on August 29, 1939 in the Town of Albany, WI; daughter of William and Marian Pichler.
In 1958 she married LeRoy Shafer at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rock Falls, WI. They had six children, Angela (Henry), Christopher (Wanda), Christine (Jeff), Kathy (David), Patrick (Kelly) and Daniel (Kelly).
Cecelia was a homemaker who also worked seasonally at Huntsinger Farms (Silver Springs Garden) and the canning factory in Mondovi.
She was a wonderful, compassionate, caring mother and wife. She was also so kind and also had a smile for everyone. She would say “you just have to take one day at a time”. She enjoyed singing, listening to music and playing cards. Also she loved to yodel (which she tried to hide from her kids when they were young. She never had a bad thing to say about anyone.
She is survived by her six children, fourteen grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and her sister, Mary Englesby.
Cecelia is preceded in death by her husband, Leroy; parents, William and Marian; brothers, Eugene, William Jr. and LaVerne; sisters, Marcella, Bernice and Joan.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rock Falls, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be at a later date.
