Aldene Elizabeth Opland

Aldene Elizabeth Opland, age 82, of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Eleva, died on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the Wisconsin Veterans Home. She was born on July 25, 1935 in Ettrick to Edwin and Alice (Swenson) Peterson. She attended the Lee School in rural Melrose and later Melrose High School. Aldene was united in marriage to Bronson Matthew "Bud" Opland on April 16, 1955 in Waukon, IA. The couple made their home in the Eleva-Strum area and welcomed three children. Bud died on December 21, 2014. Aldene was a member of Eleva Lutheran Church and the ladies' circle there. She loved to read and always read every article in the paper. She was also an avid bingo player.
She is survived by her three children, Randy (Jane), Alan (Jeri), and David (Erin) Opland; three grandchildren, Jenny (Jeff) Herried, Alesha (Gabe Musselman) Opland, and Tom (Jessica Przybilla) Opland; three great-grandchildren, Ruby and Nola Herried and Sienna Musselman; niece, Sheri Peterson; nephew, Mark (Miwan) Onstad; best friend, Betty Johnson; grand-dog, Tater Tot; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Bud Opland; parents, Edwin and Alice Peterson; and brother, Merlin Peterson.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Eleva with Pastor Dennis Porter officiating Burial will follow at West Beef River Cemetery in Strum.
