Walter Pederson Obituary
Walter Theron Pederson (88) of Mondovi went to his Heavenly home on Friday, October 23, 2015. He was born January 27, 1927 on the home farm in the Town of Pleasant Valley, WI; son of Peter and Laura (Insteness) Pederson. He and his brother, Richard, took over the home farm in 1944. They farmed together until Walter went into the U.S. Army in 1955. He served his country for 2 years. On return he became a carpenter. He worked with his brother, Lawrence for many years.
Walter married Ione Thompson in 1960. She was killed in an auto accident in 1970. He married Irene Anderson in 1972. She died in March of 1990. On March 24, 2000 he married Irene Olson in Wabasha, MN. Irene died in March of 2010.
He was confirmed at Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church, was a former member of Eleva Lutheran Church, and a current member of Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Walter was a former mentor at the Mondovi Elementary School and a proud member of the Mondovi American Legion Post #154.
Walter enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling and all kinds of puzzles. He enjoyed spending time with children. He will be dearly missed for his great sense of humor and ability to make people laugh.
He is survived by his step-children, DuWayne "Dewey" (Joan) Olson of Roscoe, IL, Dale (Mary Ellen) Olson of Fairport, NY, Shelly Olson (Robert Keisler) of Mondovi, WI; eight step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; sister, Frances White of Paso Robles, CA; brother, Richard (Darlene) Pederson of Eleva, WI; sister-in-law, Gen Pederson of Eleva; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Walter was preceded in death by his parents; wives; siblings, Obert (Vivian) Pederson, Lawrence Pederson, Borghild (William) White, Anna (Arvo) Puro ; brother-in-law, Frank White.
Funeral services will be 12:00 (noon) on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Rolf Morck officiating. Burial with Military rites will be at the Eleva Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
