Shirley Mae Urness, 75 of Mondovi, WI passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Mayo Health Systems in Eau Claire surrounded by her family. She was born on May 29, 1940 in Eau Claire, WI, daughter of the late Arnold and Eleanor (Simonson) Everson.
She was a graduate of Mondovi High School and after graduation she worked in Eau Claire. In February of 1961 she married Merle Urness at the Drammen Lutheran Church. They then started their family in Naples Township.
In 1967 they moved to their farm in Gilman Valley where they raised their four children. Shirley was a member of Central Lutheran Church. She loved to decorate cakes, plant flowers, collect dolls and cows, crafting, and bird watching out the window.
She enjoyed the Holidays and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren and attending all their events. Shirley and Merle enjoyed country western shows and loved the old county western music.
Survivors include her husband Merle, 4 children; Tim (Ellen) Urness of Gilmanton, Micci (Greg) Weiss of Gilmanton, Matt (Sherry) Urness of Norwood Young America, MN, and Craig (Tonia) Urness of Cokato, MN.
10 Grandchildren; Josh, Zack and Nick Urness; Derrick Weiss, Ashley (Jordan Bauer) Weiss; Curtis, Lucas, Bryce, Alex and Caitlyn Urness.
2 Brothers, Dave (Lonnie) Everson of Eleva, Phil (Vonnie) Everson of Eleva. 1 Sister, Eldora Odegard of Mondovi. 1 Step-sister, Sharon Koesterman of Chippewa Falls. 1 Step-brother, Donald Peterson of Eau Claire, Brother-in-law, Vernon Mercer of Eleva.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, brother Curt Everson, sister Karen Mercer and brother-in-law, Ron Odegard.
A Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2016 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM at the Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Mondovi.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, April 18, 2016, 11:00AM at the Central Lutheran Church in Mondovi with a one hour visit prior to services from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. Pastor Rolf Morck is officiating.
Burial will follow at Riverside Lutheran Cemetery in Mondovi.
