Oliver William "Bill, Sonny" Bauer, age 77, of Mondovi, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2019 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born on March 14, 1941 in Eau Claire to Oliver and Lillian (Harris) Bauer. He grew up on his family's farm north of Mondovi. He attended school in the area before joining the Navy. After he returned, Sonny worked several jobs before beginning a career at Carl Bolander and Sons Co in St. Paul, MN. He later retired as a demolition foreman. He was a member of the Roadrunners, a gold panning group in Arizona, and had recently joined the Gilmanton American Legion Post #264. Sonny loved to fish, hunt, go boating, pan for gold, go to the casino, and take trips to Arizona. He loved to tell stories and cared deeply about his family.
He is survived by his sweetie, Judy Klopp of Mondovi; three children, Lorri (Blaine) Kopischke of Waterville, MN, Wendy (Earl) Warren of St. Francis, MN, and Jon (Julie) Traver of Aitkin, MN; five step-children, Veronica (David) Nelson of Gilmanton, Sue (Jamey) Davis of Gilmanton, Joe (Karine) Klopp of Gilmanton, Heather (Adam) Severson of Gilmanton, George Klopp of Gilmanton; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five siblings, Shirley Harshman of Chippewa Falls, Ed Bauer of St. Paul, MN, Betty (Jerry) Dzienkowski of Cadott, Russell (Patsy) Bauer of Arizona, and Larry (Shelly) Bauer of St. Paul, MN; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Roxanne Juvland; son, Dennis Bauer; parents, Oliver and Lillian Bauer; and brother, Frank Bauer.
Visitation will be held from 1-5 pm on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.kjentvet-smithfuneralhome.com.
