Michael Lover Obituary
Michael W. Lover, age 69, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully in his sleep, with family at his side, on Sunday, April 30, 2017, after a year-long battle with lung cancer.
Mike was born in Mondovi, Wisconsin on August 12, 1947. He graduated from Mondovi High School in 1965 and Stout University in 1969, where he was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He taught Industrial Arts at Luxemburg-Casco High School for 35+ years. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, UW-Madison Badgers, and the UWGB Phoenix Women's Basketball. A longtime woodcrafter, he spent many years making and selling his work through Woodcrafts By Michael. Some of his hobbies included golf outings, walking, backyard bonfires with friends, and trying to keep the rabbits out of his garden.
Mike will be missed greatly by many dear friends, colleagues, and family members, including son David Lover (wife Susan) of Chaska, Minnesota, daughter Jill Lover of Los Angeles, California, son Joe Lover (wife Janna) of Eagan, Minnesota, grandchildren Alex, Ben, Jacey, and Addie, and sister Mary Jo Lindberg (husband Fred), niece Carley Alcaraz, and nephew Justin Lindberg, all of Casper, Wyoming.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents William C. and Marian W. Lover of Mondovi, Wisconsin. His family would like to thank the medical professionals of Aurora Health Care, Vince Lombardi Cancer Center, and Rennes Health and Rehab Center.
A funeral service will be held at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home (465 W Main St, Mondovi, WI 54755) on Thursday, May 4 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation from 10-11. Mike will be laid to rest near his parents at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Mondovi. There will also be a memorial service at 3 p.m. at Proko-Wall Funeral Home (1630 E Mason St, Green Bay, WI 54302) on Sunday, May 7, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi is assisting the family with arrangements.
