LaVere Allen Schultz

LaVere Allen Schultz, age 95, of Mondovi, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at Hillview Senior Living in Mondovi. He was born on November 8, 1924 in the Town of Canton to Rudolf "Rudy" and Clara (Brenn) Schultz. He grew up on his family's farm and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1942. He was united in marriage to Joy Belle Dieckman on May 31, 1947 in Mondovi. The couple welcomed three children: Peggy, Patricia, and James. LaVere and Joy Belle enjoyed many wonderful years together before she passed away in 2011. LaVere dedicated his life to the family farm. He retired in 1979, but could still be found mowing hay in his late 80s. He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi and served as an elder and on the financial board for many years. He also served on the Naples Town Board for 17 years. LaVere enjoyed being a member of bowling league, playing pool, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
LaVere is survived by his two children, Peggy (Bob) Steinke of Cambridge, MN and Jim (Jane) Schultz of Mondovi; son-in-law, Ken Spraetz of West Salem, WI; six grandchildren, Chad (Deb) Steinke, Jill (Erik) Easton, Andy (Tessa) Spraetz, Amy Ebel, Jason (Heather) Schultz, and Jennifer (Joe) Serum; 12 great-grandchildren, Alex, Emily, Adam, Tyler, Chas, Kenson, Owen, Trevor, Ryan, Mason, Jensyn, and Jorgia; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joy Belle Schultz; daughter, Patricia Spraetz; parents, Rudy and Clara Schultz; two brothers, Cliford and Mervin Schultz; and in-laws, Lyle and Edna Dieckman and Violet Schultz.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi with Pastor Scott Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi is assisting the family with arrangements.
