John W. Teela
Age 74, of Eau Claire, WI, passed from bodily life here on earth to eternity on Friday, December 12, 2014. He was born October 10, 1940 to Jess W. and Isabel E. (Wiggen) Teela. He was welcomed to the world by eight sisters all older than he; there was a celebration & name sake!
John graduated with honors from Mondovi High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin in both Madison & Eau Claire with honors. He served our country with 4 years in the USAF Intelligence & received a military Spirit of Honor Medal.
Mother Teela's funeral was on Dec. 12; his only son, Mark John's funeral was on Dec. 12. We almost got through the day but he just couldn't struggle another second and he passed in my arms that evening with our daughter, Wendy at his side.
We try to accept God's decision. He struggled with numerous medical issues for years. He struggled through 7 emergencies and 10 hospitalizations, his heart & mind repeatedly met his body's challenges. Love, prayer & humor got us through. His journey here has ended. Death is a thief as when he lost his father at the age of 6 and then his only son & name sake was killed at the age of 16.
How'd we continue? We had no choice; like Mark always said whenever he left "Carry On". God will guide us through this journey we now face without John. John was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws and five of his sisters and so very many friends and family.
A sign in his man-cave reads- "This is not a dress rehearsal; live life to the fullest" He surely did- bravely. Now it's up to all of us to do so. Death is a transfer of life and we must accept it, both with faith and friends. God bless his soul.
He delivered for UPS for 29 years with many awards. It took his brain & body "outside" where he loved to be. He hunted, fished and after retirement he involved his everyday, in the care of his home, property and family. John married his high school sweetheart, Nancy D. Ede on Dec. 27, 1959; they were together 57 years.
He is survived by his wife; daughter, Wendy and her friend Sean; along with sisters, Carole (Bob) Shive, Rosemond Rothering, Lorraine Linderman, and many, many nieces, nephews & friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, December 19, 2014 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi. Friends and family may call between 4:00 to 8:00pm.
A private family service will be held on Sunday, December 21, 2014. Burial with full Military Rites will follow at the East Pepin Cemetery where he was sexton for many years. To express online condolences visit www.kjentvet-smithfuneralhome.com
