James Laverne Ellifson (84) of Eau Claire, WI, formerly of Mondovi, died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at Dove Health Care Center- South in Eau Claire. He was born September 1, 1930 in Whitehall, WI; son of the late Edwin & Annette (Strand) Ellifson. On February 25, 1950 Jim married Marcine Johnson in Wabasha, MN. They lived in Janesville and Milwaukee before returning to Mondovi in 1953. They moved to his present Eau Claire residence in 1977.He worked as a truck driver hauling new vehicles for C& J Transportation, Clark Transportation, Janesville Auto Transportation, and Ryder Transportation. He was a member of Teamsters Local #120 and was a proud union steward for 20 years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi. Jim enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Chetek, he also loved all family events especially the Ellifson family reunion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his favorite was pontooning.
He is survived in death by his sons, Daniel (Barbara) Ellifson of Prescott, WI, Rodney (Debra) Ellifson of Eau Claire, WI, Timothy (Mary) Ellifson of Eau Claire, WI; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Emily Berg of Dixion, IL; sisters-in-law, Eunice Ellifson, Eva Ellifson, Tina Ellifson and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Marcine; brothers and sister, Adeline Skoug, Vernal, Clifford, Edner, Archie, Howard and Jerry Ellifson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Mondovi, WI with Rev. Paul Woebbeking officiating. Friends may call from noon to 2:00 pm at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in Mondovi, WI. Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi is assisting the family.
