Genevieve Harriet Pederson

Genevieve Harriet "Gen" Pederson, age 95, of Eleva, died on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi. She was born on March 6, 1923 to Olaf and Mabel (Gilbertson) Gunderson. She grew up in Eau Claire and attended 9th Ward (Lincoln) Grade School and graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1942. Gen was united in marriage to Lawrence Pederson on April 17, 1943 at the Eleva Lutheran Church parsonage. Six children were born to this union. Gen worked at several jobs through the years: Presto during the war, Demler Florist in Eau Claire, and at the University in Eau Claire as a waitress for the food service. She was a member of Eleva Lutheran Church, including the Ladies Aid, Altar Guild, and quilting group. She also donated her sewing talents to Eternal Angels.
Gen is survived by her five children, Ronald Pederson of CO, Dale (Linda) Pederson of Strum, Robert (Barbara) Pederson of Eleva, Michelle Pederson of Eau Claire, Michael Pederson of Strum; ten grandchildren, Candy (Dewey) Shannon of White Lake, Kimberly (James) Baker of IL, Melissa (Aaron) Boos of Mondovi, Jennifer (Jeff) Odegard of Onalaska, Jon (Jennifer) Pederson of Eleva, Amanda (Dan) Osborn of Elk Mound, Sadie (Kyle) Downing of Eleva, Molly Pederson of Eau Claire, Leif (Stacy) Pederson of CO, and Britta (Rory) Pischer of KS; 20 great-grandchildren, Brandon Peterson, Linsey Shannon, Kendal Baker, Hannah and Zack Boos, Blake and Brett Rosenthal, Jacob and Logan Osborn, Abagail and Hunter Pederson, Jasmine, Jada, and Jordan Odegard, Ayden Rud, Kylynn and Ayden Downing, Isabella, Gabriella, and Michaela Pischer, and Callon Pederson; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence; daughter, Janet (Rich) Dyer; parents, Olaf and Mabel Gunderson; two sisters, Mae (Alvin) Tollefson and Beverly (Richard) Page; and four brothers, Raymond, Howard, Olaf Jr., and Harold Gunderson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Eleva Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of the service. Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Eleva is assisting the family with arrangements.
