Elizabeth "Liz" Jane Hovey Klevgard
Age 77, went to fly with the Angels on August 27, 2013 at home with her family by her side. She was born March 29, 1936 to Walter and Ruth (Webb) Hovey at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, WI. She attended Mondovi Elementary and Mondovi High School, graduated in 1956. Liz attended Buffalo County Teachers College and graduated in 1956. Liz married the love of her life Orland "Bud" Klevgard in August of 1956. She taught school in Pepin County in a one room school thru the fall of 1956. Liz gave birth to Susan in June of 1957 and Craig in August of 1958. She was a stay at home mom until she went to teaching school as a remedial reading teacher in the outline schools until 1965. She taught at Canton Elementary until they closed the school. Liz came into town spring of 1973 to teach 6th grade and then went to the 4th grade and taught until she retired in 1998.Liz was a member of the MEA, WEA and NEA. She was also a member of Central Lutheran Church; Ruth's Circle and also rang bells. Liz was a loving and caring wife, mother and "grandmother". She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Liz was respected by many of her former students and was even selected for a who's who Among American Teachers. She is survived by her children; Sue Klevgard of Eau Claire, WI, Craig Klevgard of Mondovi, WI. And "Dude" her loving golden retriever. One Brother; Walter (Rose) Hovey of Washburn, WI. Three adopted daughters, Anita Abts, Heidi Faulkner and Gina Andrews. Four adopted grandkids; Lisa Kees, Kirk Risen, Bryanne Risen and Zach Glamann. Three brother-in-laws; Glen (Thelma) Klevgard, Mayland (Alice) Klevgard, and John (Carol) Klevgard and many loving nieces and nephews.
Liz was preceded in death by her husband Bud Klevgard, Parents; Walter and Ruth Hovey, Brother; William Hovey, Sister; Marjorie Noll, Grandparents; Benjamin and Anna Hovey. Kathleen and Joseph Webb, several Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday September 3, 2013 at 1:00pm at the Central Lutheran Church, in Mondovi, WI. Visitation will be held on Monday September 2, 2013 from 4-7pm at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, WI. And one hour prior to Funeral Services at the church.
