Eldora Odegard Obituary

Eldora Bernice Odegard, age 80, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at the American Lutheran Home with her family by her side. She was born on October 12, 1938 in Eau Claire County to Arnold and Eleanor (Simonson) Everson. She grew up on her family's farm and graduated from Mondovi High School, Class of 1957. On October 18, 1958, she married Ronald Coleman Odegard at Drammen Lutheran Church. Three girls were born to this marriage. Eldora worked at various clerical jobs until she began helping her husband as a bookkeeper at Buffalo Valley Building Center, the lumber yard in Mondovi they purchased in 1985. After they closed their business, she cared for her grandchildren until they went to school and pursued a part-time position at Gary's Shop Kwik. She was also a member of Central Lutheran Church, where in her early days, she enjoyed teaching pre-school Sunday school. Eldora was a proud member of the Mondovi American Legion Auxiliary Post 154. She liked to sew and was terrific at mending garments. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, doing arts and crafts, going to thrift sales, and reading biographies.
Eldora is survived by her three daughters, Jacqie (Jim) Teigen of Mondovi, Joee (Steve) Cooley of Altoona, and Jeri (Jeff) Parr of Eau Claire; four grandchildren, Jillian (Matt) Zerbe, Adam (Bria) Lindstrom, Jocelyn (Travis) Holmes, Jayme Teigen, and; five great-granddaughters, Evelyn Mae, Jadalyn Dia, Penelope Angeline, Stella Marie, and Amaya Lynette; brother, Dave (Lonnie) Everson of Eleva; step-sister, Sharon Koesterman of Chippewa Falls; step-brother, Donald Peterson of Eau Claire; two sisters-in-law, Vonnie Everson of Eleva and Arleen Odegard of Oakdale, MN; two brothers-in-law, Vernon Mercer of Eleva and Merle Urness of Mondovi; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Ronald Odegard; parents; two brothers, Curt and Phil Everson; two sisters, Karen Mercer and Shirley Urness; brother-in-law, William Garfield "Wimpy" Odegard; and two nieces, Becky and Kristi.
