Vernon Engen Obituary
Vernon J. Engen, 84 of Eleva, WI passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Tomah Veterans Medical Center in Tomah, WI.
Vernon was born on February 3, 1932 in Whitehall, WI, son of the late Oliver and Juliet (Neperud) Engen.
He enlisted in the Army on January 19, 1951. On July 31, 1956 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Pullman at the "Little Brown Church" in Nashua, Iowa.
Vernon served for years with the Eleva Fire Department, and was a member of the Carpenters Union. He was also a member of the American Legion, the VFW and the 40ET8.
Vernon liked his four wheeler and cars. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, and loved to tinker in his shop. He especially enjoyed listening to old country western music.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Elizabeth, 3 children; Rick (Millie) Engen of Eleva, Steve (Dori) Engen of Chippewa Falls, Terry (Robert) Nelson of Strum. 8 grandchildren; Derrick and Darren Engen, Jessica Engen, Janelle Larkowski, Janessa Comstock, Kyle, Katie and Rachel Nelson. 9 great grandchildren. Sisters; Gloria (Rich) DeMar, Darlene Powers and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He is preceded in death by a son Craig, a grandchild Gregory, two brothers; Jerold and Larry Engen.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, 11:00AM at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Eleva, with a one hour visit prior to the service starting at 10:00AM till the time of service.
