Ruth Traaseth Obituary
Ruth Agnes Traaseth (95) of Eleva, WI died Friday, February 12, 2016 at Strum Area Health & Rehab. She was born February 12, 1921 at home in the Town of Unity, Trempealeau County, WI; daughter of Ole and Alvina (Engen) Jacobson, sister to Joe Jacobson, Raymond Jacobson & Elaine Traaseth.
On July 22, 1939 she married Joseph Traaseth and was always proud to say that her sister Elaine married Joe's brother Harvey. To this union three children were born, Robert (Anne), Jerome (Ione) and Diane (Gary Hillestad). Joe preceded her in death on December 22, 1978 due to an auto accident.
Together Joe & Ruth farmed in the valley called Big Creek all their lives. Ruth was a faithful homemaker & was always by Joe's side at most all "chore times."
She was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum and loved to join the ladies at quilting making time as long as she was able and continued to make a lot of quilts on her pedal sewing machines at home never knowing where they went but someone would be warm.
She will always be remembered as a kind, loving, "sit down & have a cookie" grandma, great grandma & great-great grandma.
She will always be remembered and loved by her children; grandchildren, Mindy (David) Pederson, Mark (Dawn) Traaseth, Missy (Chris) Toft, Pam (Steve) Johnson, Tim (Kelli) Traaseth, Dawn (Brad) Jones, Mary (Jeff) Moyer, Randy (Joy) Hillestad, Laurie (Bryant) Heath; twenty-five great-grandchildren; twelve great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Irene Brian. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; brothers, Raymond and Joseph; sister, Elaine.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Strum with Pastor Ken Taylor officiating. Burial will be at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Strum. Friends may call from 4:00 -7:00 pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Eleva, WI and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
