Martin Sandberg Obituary

Martin (Marty) Lyle Sandberg, 72, of Eleva, WI went to his eternal home on April 25, 2018. Martin was a resident at the Homeplace in Mondovi at the time of his death.
Martin was born July 4, 1945 at the Mondovi Clinic Hospital in Mondovi. Martin was baptized on July 26, 1945. On March 27, 1965 he was united in marriage to Judy Lillian Bartholomew at Drammen Lutheran Church in Drammen, WI. They were married 53 years when Martin passed away.
Martin was employed as a logger for many years. He was also employed as a timber buyer. He was very hardworking, honest, and dependable. Martin was a member of Eleva Lutheran Church where he served as a member of the church council. He also taught Sunday School with his wife. He was a volunteer fire fighter for the Village of Eleva.
Martin loved to tell stories and jokes. He liked to recall times from his childhood.
Martin was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He was always happy to lend a helping hand to other people when needed. He was also a hunter and fisherman. He loved hunting with his son, Marty, and grandson, Martin. Martin received his HSED from Chippewa Valley Technical College in May of 1992 and was very proud of it.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Judy of Eleva; three children, Martin D. Sandberg (Terri) of Rice Lake, Lisa Vigeland (Richard) of Alma, and Jody Sandberg of Eleva; sisters, Mavis Thelen, Clarice Gray (Duane), Yvonne Johnson (Jerald), Lenette Sandberg, Bonnie Klueckman (Maynard), Faye Severson, Rhonda Segerstrom (Tom); brothers, Ralph Sandberg (Kathy), Lyle Sandberg (Joanie), Jack Sandberg (Pam), and Jerry Sandberg (Shirley); two brothers-in-law, Ronald Bartholomew (Reve) of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and Randy Bartholomew (Rose) of Eleva; sister-in-Law, Joyce Sandberg of Mondovi, WI; grandchildren, Michael Sandberg-Johnson (Nicole), Lindsay Zahara (Nathan), Chelsie Goplin, and Martin A. Sandberg; great-grandchildren, Kyli and Alayna Zahara, Ben Falkner, Charlie Johnson, and Mya Goplin-West; and many nieces and nephews.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Gertrude Sandberg; parents-in-Law, Robert and Lillian Bartholomew; siblings, David Sandberg, Allen Sandberg, and Violet Beebe; brothers-in-law, Robert E. Bartholomew, Glynn Beebe, Douglas Severson, and Bob Hanson; sister-in-law, Helen Bartholomew; and great-granddaughter, Ariyah Goplin-West.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Eleva Lutheran Church with Pastor Bob Castro officiating. Burial will follow at Hamlin Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday, April 27 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi (465 W Main St, Mondovi, WI 54755) and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
