Lela Urness Obituary
Lela Marie (Lund) Urness, age 84 of Eau Claire, WI formerly of Modena, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Mayo Health Systems in Eau Claire, WI.
Lela was born on February 4, 1931 in Eau Claire, WI to Charles and Marie (Kilde) Lund. She attended Drammen Elementary, Mondovi High School and Eau Claire Teachers College where she received her certificate and taught for the Modena and Pepin Schools.
She married Kenneth Urness on June 12, 1953 in Drammen, WI. They had four sons.
Lela enjoyed writing local history, crafts, art of all kinds, rosemaling, traveling to Norway, fishing, and watching birds. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lela also provided day care for some of the local Modena families.
She was active in the Sons of Norway and the Modena Lutheran Church.
Lela is survived by her sons; Dennis (Alma) Urness of Modena, WI, Donald (Eileen) Urness of Cedar Grove, WI. Larry (Louise) Urness of Eau Claire, WI, Randy (Peggy) Urness of Rosholt, WI. 9, Grandchildren; Melissa, Nathan, Shane, Jon, Adam, Aleisha, Krystal, Kendra and Thomas. 4, Great-grandchildren; Ashlyn, Wade, Kyra and Blakely. 2, Siblings; Emil Lund and Laura Foiles.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth, siblings; Annie Blomquist, Eda Lund and Carl Lund.
Visitation will be held at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi, on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.
Funeral Services will take place on Monday, April 20, 2015 at the Modena Lutheran Church in Modena, WI at 11:00am.
