Jewel Berge Obituary
Jewel Manford Berge, 96, of Strum, WI passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Prairie Road Home in Strum. He was born on November 20, 1918 in Pigeon Falls, WI to the late John and Gertrude (Stalheim) Berge.
Jewel married Norma Fremstad on June 21, 1946 at the Pigeon Falls Lutheran Church, where he was also baptized and confirmed. In 1948 he moved to Strum and started the Strum Manufacturing Company. Jewel loved his community and served actively on numerous clubs and boards, he was always willing to help when ever needed.
His family was very important to him, he loved spending time with them and he instilled in them the love of the outdoors. In retirement he enjoyed wood turning.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years Norma, Children; Jon ‘Tony"(Ruth Buchheit) of Steamboat Springs, CO, Ingrid (Berge) Guse of Fridley, MN, David ( Colleen) of Strum, WI, Paul (Reenie) of Chetek, WI, Peter (Rita) of Strum, WI.
Grandchildren; include Brian, Patrick, Heather, Jon, Michael, Laura, Ryan, Maria and Marissa.
16, great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Jewel is preceded in death by his 3 brothers, one sister and son-in-law Gerald Guse.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 14, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Strum from 4:00pm-7:00pm, and one hour prior to services on Saturday. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2015, 11:00am at the church with Pastor KD Taylor officiating. Committal Service will follow at 3:30pm at the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls, WI. Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home is assisting the family.
