Gertrude Cecelia Fedie

Gertrude Cecelia Fedie, 94 of Mondovi passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the American Lutheran Home with family by her side. She was born on February 6, 1921, the ninth of thirteen children of Charles and Theresa (Vogler) Prissel. She was born and raised on a farm in Lima Township, Prissel Valley. On June 10, 1940 she married Herman Fedie at the Holy Rosary Church in Lima. They moved to Mondovi and in 1946 into the house they built together and raised their ten children. She lived there for 67 years, and spent the last 3 years of her life in the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi. The most significant job in her life was taking care of her family, but she also had various other jobs. She was a cook at Sacred Heart School, a nurse's aid at the American Lutheran Home, and a Home Health Aid. Gertrude was very strong in her faith, and she was a member of the Sacred Heart Church for over 70 years. Next to her family and her Lord, she loved her flowers and her garden. Gertrude is survived by eight of her children. Linda (Peter) Gaasch of Ham Lake, MN, Phyllis (Tony) Keim of Mondovi, WI, Patricia (Gary) Moe of Chisago City, MN, Steven (Wendy) Fedie of Long Lake, MN, Robert (Nancy) Fedie of Mukwonago, WI, Randall Fedie of Wind Lake, WI, Terry Fedie of Oakland, MN, and Laure (Rich) Heitzig of Brooklyn Park, MN. She is also survived by daughter-in-law, Pam (Fedie) Chalus of Loveland, CO, 21 grandchildren, 19 great-grand children, and 2 great-great granddaughters. Other survivors include sisters Freda Werlein of Mondovi, WI, Erma Sam of Arkansaw, WI, and brother Francis Prissel of Durand, WI, sister-in-law Julianna Fedie of Eau Galle, WI, as well as many nieces and nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman; son, Michael; infant son, David; brothers Edward and Leo Prissel; sisters, Mary Brantner, Elnora Sabelko, Sister Martinella (Josephine Prissel), Helen Sabelko, Bernadine Gilles, Alvera Pittman and Leona Spindler. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, May 16, 2015, 11:00AM at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi, with Father Paul Bosco officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM, with a Scripture Wake at 6:30PM, at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Mondovi. Friends may also call for one hour before Mass at the church on Saturday. Private Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery at a later date.
