Francis J. Gruber, 85 of Mondovi, WI passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at his home in Mondovi. Francis was born on May 26, 1930 in the Town of Albany, Pepin Co. WI, son of the late Frank and Margaret (Weber) Gruber.
He served in the Military (Army) from 1951 thru 1953, during the Korean War Era.
During Franny's life he enjoyed many things like Horse pulls, the Green Bay Packers, Brewers, Badgers and all sporting events. He was very passionate about politics.
He loved going out to eat especially at Randy's, and was very well liked by the waitresses. Franny owned Gruber's Bar in Mondovi for several years. He later went to work and retired from the University of Eau Claire in 1995. He was also member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sister; Lavina (Lester) Olson of Eau Claire and brother; Raymond Gruber of Mondovi. 19, nieces and nephews, extended family and Barbara Kolstad.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister Justina Weissinger.
A Visitation will be held at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home of Mondovi on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 from 4:00PM to 7:00PM with a Scripture Wake at 6:30PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Mondovi on Thursday, April 21, 2016, 11:00AM, with a one hour visit prior at the church from 10:00AM till the time of service. Father Paul Bosco is officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery in Mondovi with Honors by the Mondovi Veterans Group.
