Douglas D. Walling 76, of Strum Passed away July 23, 2016 in his home in Strum, WI with his family by his side. He was born September 28, 1939 the son of the late George Walling and lovingly raised by his late mother Lois (Yuech) and late stepfather Albert Milbrandt in Des Moines, Iowa. On May 1, 1965 in Glen Flora WI. he married his wife of 51 years Gloria Williams.
Doug loved spending time with his family, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards. In the years after the stroke he enjoyed quilting with the love of his life. One of his favorite pastimes was his beloved Packers, and of course watching Wheel of Fortune (Vanna White).
As a young man he enlisted in the Army and Served Proudly, becoming a Specialist 4th Class and trained on Hawk missiles before being discharged to return home to help his family. He once owned his own sheetrock business, drove truck, and then went into customer sales where he was able to use his talent of words to sweet talk everyone.
Doug is survived by his Wife Gloria, his three children; Andy (Bridget) Walling of Eleva, Brian (Sue) Walling of Eleva, and Heidi (Mike) Kolve of Strum ; & Grandchildren, Tyler Simenson, Angellica Reichenbach, Brittany (Kaine) Knudtson, Dylan Walling, Eric Walling, Emily George and Tabatha Kolve; three Great Grandchildren Isabella, Samuel, Gabriella; Three sisters Rita Tharp, Wendy (Jack) Ruppelt, and Judy (Dave) Kunes.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and Great Grandchild Nathan, one infant sister Cindy, and a brother In-law Jack Tharp.
A funeral will be held Wednesday July 27, 2016 at 11 A.M. at Kjentvet-Smith funeral home in Eleva, Wi. A visitation will be held Wednesday July 27, one hour before the service from 10 to 11 A.M.
Interment will be at Hamlin Cemetery I Rural Strum.
