Donna Mae Severson

Donna Mae Severson, age 83, of Mondovi, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire with her family by her side. She was born on August 16, 1934 in Buffalo County, WI to Arthur and Mae (Kolve) Nelson. She grew up on her family's farm in Lookout. Donna attended rural school and later high school in Independence. After school she stayed with relatives in Eau Claire and worked as a waitress. She was united in marriage to John Earle Severson on August 14, 1954 in Astoria, OR. The couple made their first homes in Astoria and in San Diego, CA. They later returned to Wisconsin to raise their family. Donna worked at Ashley Furniture for 14 years. John passed away on January 9, 2006. Donna loved to tend her flower garden and was always finding a new paint color for her house. She was a very quiet person but could be firm if needed. She cared for many people throughout her life. Donna's dry sense of humor could strike people unaware. She will always live on in those who loved her.

She is survived by her three children, Bruce (Asha Sen) Severson of Eau Claire, Becky (Ed) Bauer of Mondovi, and John (Julie) Severson of Arcadia; ten grandchildren, Jason (Jasmine) Severson, Amanda (Lecrese Spinler) Severson, Seth (Theresa) McRae, Scott (Loretta Knusella) McRae, Derrick (Wendy) Bauer, Kyle (Ashley Potter) Bauer, Nicholas (Ashley Rivera) Severson, Victoria Severson, Aundrea Severson, and John Severson; 13 great-grandchildren, Horst, David, Joey, Leon, Alisha, Amor, Dayne, Ayden, Mason, Conner, Hayzen, Aidan, and Aliyah; three siblings, LaMoine, Lloyd (Carol), and Jimmy (Judy) Nelson, all of Independence; brother-in-law, Theodore (Dawn) Severson of Black River Falls; two sisters-in-law, Caryn Nelson of Independence and Diane (Gary) Green of Eau Claire; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Earle Severson; infant daughter, Kathryn Severson; two grandchildren, Michelle and Ricky Severson; parents, Arthur and Mae Nelson; brother, Larry Nelson; sister, Eileen Nelson; and many other relatives.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. Burial will follow at the Julson Cemetery, Town of Dover. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm on Friday, February 23 at the funeral home and again on Saturday for one hour prior to the service.
