Deanna Eckwright Obituary
Deanna May Eckwright, age 79, of Mondovi, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Eau Claire. She was born on October 9, 1938 in Waukesha to Walter and Marcella (Meiers) Drews. She and her family later moved to Eau Claire. Deanna was united in marriage to Robert Harry Eckwright, Sr. on September 9, 1954 in Mason City, IA. The couple made their home in Rock Falls and welcomed nine children. Deanna was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. She was a very kind-hearted person and was always thinking about the needs of others. She worked for People's Rights, an organization that helped provide legal aide to those in need. Deanna loved to cook, embroider, work in her garden, and made the greatest cakes. Her family was her life, and she always had times to play games with her grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.
Deanna is survived by her eight children, Steve (Wendy) Eckwright of Eleva, Terry (Debbie) Eckwright of Rock Falls, Theresa (Merlyn) Yarrington of Morton, MS, Lori Eckwright of Strum, Jeff (Kathy) Eckwright of Augusta, Cynthia (Joseph) LaLonde of Fort Smith, AR, David Eckwright of Mondovi, and Christine (Brent) Cagle of Mondovi; 17 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter; sister, Marilyn Gilbert of Osseo; daughter-in-law, Mary Eckwright of Eau Claire; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Robert Eckwright, Jr.; granddaughter, Ann Davis-Eckwright and her child; great-granddaughter, Emily Grace Yarrington; parents; and sister, Karen Nelson.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home, Mondovi. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. A private family burial will follow at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.kjentvet-smithfuneralhome.com.
